Reflection
Experience
As someone who is a credit transfer
student, there was definitely a few
hiccups having this subject be one of the
first ones that I did in my first
semester. From the absents that was caused
in the first two weeks of class to the
vague understanding on creating proper
letterforms. All in all, the experience
was most definitely challenging and pushed
me to my limits both physically and
mentally. I had to really train and expand
my design language to explore something
more new, original, and modern. Even
though there are some things that I wish I
could have done better, I am overall glad
with my outcome.
Observation
Throughout this module, I found that times
when I struggle and experience setbacks
comes from cluelessness and uncertainty with
myself. I notice that having little faith
and trust over my skill leaves me stuck in
positions of needing external suggestion and
opinions. As soon as my brain clicks into
place, everything can finally go smoothly
with work alongside it. Similarly, I think
it's encourage for someone to try and make a
lot of mistakes when designing instead of
being satisfied with one attempt. The
important thing is finding and understanding
that sweet spot.
Finding
Having illustration and concept art as my
primary skill of choice and preference, it
is worth mentioning that typography also has
an extensive history and large of skills
that one has to master to be able to use
this knowledge correctly. From the books
given to us by our lecturer, to the ones
that I personally have found myself digging
into. That being said, the list of rules,
concepts, and ideas that usually takes place
in these books don't always need to work and
be put in paper. A lot of times, I find the
most success when I understand the concepts
rather than following them to a "T".
